About Us

Our Roots

Some may say that Just-A-Mere Farm was born from a brother and sister sharing a drink with their spouses and each other on vacation. Others would say the dream began from how those four individuals were raised and the values each of their parents instilled in them. Regardless of how this adventure began, the journey to buy land, renovate the farmhouse and existing structures, build an additional home, and create a farm has been one we have enjoyed immensely.

We're passionate about cultivating moments of joy through nature's living masterpieces. As a locally grown flower farm in Orient, we take pride in providing an array of floral experiences that resonate with our community. We are a multi-generational family-owned business teaching our youngest farmers how to cultivate growth in all aspects of life.

Our joy for this journey is displayed in the care we take to start our flowers, carefully grow each plant, harvest the best stems, and create arrangements to bring smiles to those who receive them.

  • Mike & Susan

Mike is a retired engineer from the city of Columbus. He currently operates as our farm’s seed starter. His patience and dedication to each of our plants shows. You can find him behind the scenes on the farm, planting, watering, harvesting, and playing with his grandchildren. He loves being at our markets where he is always sharing tips and techniques with community members.

Susan currently works in insurance. She has always had a love for plant and flower design. Over the years, she has turned her backyard into an outdoor oasis enjoyed by friends and family during the warmer months. She spends her time learning design techniques and color combinations for floral arrangements then implementing the ideas into our bouquets. You can find her designing our bouquets, making arrangements for loved ones, and teaching her grandchildren how to design in our “kid” and “Yaya” created jars.

Together they built a family that became the roots of our farm. In their children they instilled a strong work ethic, love of outdoors, and modeled for their children what it takes to make dreams come true. As a young couple they found land in Galloway, Ohio and raised their children with the experience of living outside of “town.” Their land allowed them to have a vegetable garden and experiment with landscaping and flowers. Those simple endeavors were watched by their children and helped their children see what they wanted for their own families in the future.

  • Jon & Jackie

Jackie - an Army Veteran and current 6th grade math teacher - is Mike and Susan’s oldest daughter. Jackie has a love for adventure, outdoors, books, and wildflowers. She moved back to central Ohio after serving in the army for 7 years and completing her education program at Eastern Kentucky University. You can find her in our fields planting and harvesting, and then arranging flowers with her personal flair. She loves being at our markets to talk with community members and share the joy of our flowers and journey through our social media pages.

Jon - an arborist by day - was born and raised in Northwest Ohio. He came to central Ohio for college and has not left. With a degree in Urban Forestry from The Ohio State University, he provides much of the knowledge and real-life experience needed to help our endeavor grow. Jon grew up watching his parents pour love and energy into their family garden and has always loved working outside with nature.

You can find him outdoors on our farm taking care of the chickens, planting trees, tending the vegetable garden, and helping out wherever he sees a need.

Together they found the property our families purchased and took on the adventure of living in and renovating the existing farmhouse. Jackie and Jon have two children they love sharing this experience with.

  • Michael & Morgan

Michael - a full time firefighter and paramedic - is Mike and Susan’s youngest child and only son. He enjoys hard work and dreaming big dreams. Michael oversaw the renovation of the existing farmhouse and many projects relating to the new build. He loves a simpler life and always wanted a more self-sufficient, sustainable life. When the opportunity presented itself, he was able to convince his sister and brother-in-law to buy land with him and his wife. You can find him outdoors on our farm planting, harvesting, and tending the fields. He wisely told his wife (Morgan) that the flowers won’t grow unless they get put in the ground, the first 20 x 100 foot flower bed was established, and we haven’t looked back. Michael now also handles the business side of Just-A-Mere Farm.

Morgan - a full time teacher - was born and raised in a small village in Northwest Ohio. After graduating from college, she eventually found her way to central Ohio where she met Michael. Growing up on 2 acres, Morgan wanted more space for her children and dogs to run, bonfires, and to build a pond. She gladly participated in convincing Jackie & Jon to buy the land as she grew up playing with her cousins weekly and wanted that for her own children. As part of a ‘genius hour’ or ‘passion project’ for her students in 2021, Morgan demonstrated by planning a flower garden (the 100 x 20 foot original flower plot). She told her students it would be a success if she could share one bouquet of flowers with a friend by the end of the season. She researched, planned, determined spacing necessary, and could still be researching if Michael hadn’t convinced her to simply put the seeds in the ground. That year she shared many flowers and practiced creating arrangements for others. She loved seeing the excitement each flower bloom can bring. You can usually find Morgan at our markets or in the fields harvesting and admiring our flowers.

Together Michael and Morgan built a house on the land that was purchased where they are raising two children whom they love teaching about nature and caring for the land.
